New Features (In order of Most Awesome to Less, But Still, Awesome)
We are tremendously interested in what you think of our product and we use your feedback to prioritize what we will add next. Rest assured, you have been heard! Here are some new additions to make your life all the more easier.
Data BlendingThe Slemma Data Blending feature allows you to combine data from multiple data sources by the Time dimension. It works well when you want to visualize metrics from different data sources over time.
Up until now, Slemma would allow you to simultaneously display metrics from various sources, but not across multiple charts. With this new feature, Slemma solidifies itself as a single hub for how you interact with your data!
You can learn how you can combine your data with the Data Blending by visiting our knowledge base here.
Slemma now supports the ability to display data live! So long as you are using a database connector as your data source, you can set the minimum refresh time for your data to as little as 1 minute.
In previous versions of Slemma, you would have to refresh the page in order for the new data to display. Now, when you have this level of refresh rate, the dashboard will automatically update whenever new data is received.
Combine this new feature with the ability to display your dashboards on a shared device, and you get live dashboards for your office TV! Create reports of KPIs and what matters most; then, display them for your team to see whenever they need it.
White LabelingFor those of you who are unfamiliar with a White Label, White Labeling means that we remove our name from your customers’ interaction with our product and allow you to customize the aesthetics of the interaction. For example, instead of going to Slemma, your users will go to analytics.example.com instead. From there they can log in and experience the full power of our solution without leaving the comfort, look, and name of your brand.
Taking advantage of this will allow you to streamline your sales process. Your product will feel more natural and will provide your customers with a greater sense of security when using your solutions.
White Labeling is something that we have been excited about for some time and we are happy to finally push it live!
Establishing an SSH tunnel allows you to use our service even if your database is on a private network. If, for security reasons, you do not wish your database to be accessed directly from the internet, an SSH tunnel will allow you to create an outbound encrypted connection from your server to ours!
You can read about the details of establishing your own SSH tunnel here.
Data Source Editor
When working with data sources, sometimes you have to change things after the fact. Previously you would have to go into the XML and adjust the source in this way, but no more!
Now you can edit your data sources in a nice, easy interface. Changing the field type, adding a distinct count metric, and renaming your fields are some of the more ‘housekeeping’ aspects of this feature. More interestingly, this is where you can schedule the cache refresh of your datasource.
Lastly, you can go in and change every aspect of your query. Be careful though, you could break your charts! This feature is extremely versatile but has the ability to cause trouble if used without caution :)
Dimensions rarely look nice and clean, in fact, sometimes they can be downright unmanageable! That’s why we have added the ability to limit the viewer’s choice when using controls.
A control is a filter that a non-editing viewer can use to dig deeper into the data. By limiting the choice, you can remove elements that offer no analytical value and just clutter up the filter.
You can remove elements from your controls from the editing mode by selecting a control and clicking the “Limit choice…” button in the upper ribbon.
Date Index Dimension
Time is obviously a very important element in analytics. That is why we have added a new, automatic dimension to Slemma to let you study the data in a different way. Now when you connect a time dimension, Slemma will automatically calculate and insert “Day of Month,” “Day of Week,” ect.
These new elements will allow you to easily spot trends that might have been difficult to spot otherwise!
Sometimes when creating a multi-metric chart, each metric will need a separate aggregation type. You can now specify this while adding metrics. For example, you can show the sum of website sessions over time while simultaneously showing average bounce rate.
You can now select the aggregation for each metric and select the specific dimension element. This will allow you to make more advanced calculations much easier!
Distinct Count Metrics
When creating a datasource, you can now add a distinct count metric. For example, you could calculate the unique number of order priorities, or the unique number of orders. If you have an existing dataset, you can add this metric by selecting the dataset and clicking edit.
Totals for Tables
When using our automatic tables, you can now add total columns and rows. For example, you can have a sales table by both product and segment and still get the sum of sales with a totals row.
To add totals, select the table and click on the “Sum” button in the upper ribbon.
As we have said numerous times, our list of data connectors is ever expanding and we are always looking for ways to help you reach your data. Over the past few months, we have been able to add several new connectors that will make your life that much easier!

New Chart Types
Yet another feature we are pleased to add to our arsenal, is the ability to display longitudinal and latitudinal data over a Google Map! This will insert a fully interactive map right in your dashboard. Your viewers will be able to zoom in and out to get as detailed as your data will allow; or, get a full view of the world without having to edit anything.
Gauge, Progress Bar, and Bullet Charts
All of these new chart types allow you to compare one value to another. Use these charts to show progress toward goals such as target values or percentage to completion. Adding these to your dashboards make for much improved updates and reports.
We hope that these new features can help you in your projects and endeavors! Don't ever hesitate to let us know what you would like to see next. You can use the support or chat widget located on every page in-app or email us directly at email@example.com.
